Our English curriculum fits within our whole school intent statement through being an integral part of all aspects of learning. The use of key quality texts in English allow us to link our foundation subjects at an analytical level and the children can gain a more in depth and well-rounded understanding. Using a child’s inference and evaluative skills, taught through our reading lessons, allows them to remember more and make connections across subjects and to their own individual lives. These type of skills being taught also allow the children to develop a knowledge of their place in the world and this is confirmed and reinforced through the completion of different styles and genres of writing in both our English and foundation lessons, which are symbiotically linked.
