Purple Mash is our main online homework and remote learning platform. All children have an individual login and homework is set on Purple Mash each week.

All children in KS2 should have logins for Times Tables Rock Stars. If you need a reminder, please email us at homelearning@barleylane.redbridge.sch.uk and we'll send the login details to you.
The Day is offering free access to the Day Home. A daily email newsletter. News summary, talking points, links and activities suitable for children from KS1 – KS5
As a school, we subscribe to Education City for online learning. We hope to ensure that all logins are up to date by the 30th March. Please bear with us if your child cannot log in just yet.
Twinkl Parent Zone is offering a free premium service for schools, parents and chlidren during the closure, Enter the code UKTWINKLHELPS
At Barley Lane, we are using the Classroom Secrets Home Learning Packs as part of our home learning offer. However, children can also log on to the Kids section of the site for interactive activities and resources.
PP Primary Stars Family page contains a wide range of home learning resources for families.
Sign up with Kahoot and start creating your own quizzes and games. There are thousands to choose from.
Crickweb has online games and activities for many subjects and is suitable for all key stages
2. Maths
At Barley Lane, our maths curriculum is based on the White Rose Maths Hub scheme. Please click here for the Home Learning Parent Zone, which is updated regularly to support home learning. We highly recommend it!
Topmarks offer a range of maths resources, as well as topic-based ideas.
We highly recommend NRICH at Barley Lane, for its challenging maths puzzles and activities. The website will be publishing a full range of resources for Parents on 31st March, but in the meantime its 'FOR TWO' collection of games for adults and children should keep you occupied!

3. Phonics
Phonics Play is now available for free to parents. Please see the main page for login information. We use it to support our teaching of phonics at Barley Lane.

Weekly storytelling session from Redbridge Drama Centre, coming soon.
Reading Eggs makes learning to read interesting and engaging for kids, with great online reading games and activities. It offers a free 14-day trial.

World Book Online have made their collection of over 3000 ebooks and audiobooks available for free for children to access at home.
Audible is offering hundreds of kids’ audio books for free, and you don’t even need to be a member.

The Literacy Shed is a wonderful resource for children and parents to access at home, with a wide range of animations and videos to stimulate discussion, reflection and writing. We can't recommend it highly enough at Barley Lane!
Oxford Owl has hundreds of free ebooks for children, as well as a dedicated Home Learning area to support parents during school closure.
5. Science and Computing
Explorify is the Wellcome Trust's exciting programme of science activities for children. Signup is free.
Mystery Doug: An American site with daily 5-minute science enquiry videos.
Frontiers for Young Minds: Innovation at its best. Distinguished scientists write about their cutting-edge discoveries in accessible language for young readers, and then children provide feedback and help the authors improve the articles before publication. Topics include astronomy and space science, biodiversity, health, neuroscience.
Log on to Scratch where you can programme your own interactive stories, games, and animations
The Bee Bot App for computing is free!
Studio Code have published a set of wonderful coding resources to help parents with computing during school closure.
Tynker: everything needed to learn computer programming the fun way! Ages 5+. Free sign-up!
6. History
The British Museum's 'Museum of the World' site is mind-blowing! It's 'Teaching History with 100 Objects' is also an important resource.
BBC has two platforms for KS1 History: Bitesize History for KS1 and BBC Teach KS1. You can find KS2 resources on Bitesize History KS2 and BBC Teach KS2.
NatGeo Kids History is regularly updated with topical information covering history and other subjects.
7. Geography and the Outdoors
Tutorful Best Geography Resources is a one-stop shop of amazing Geography websites. It's well worth a look!
Primary Homework Help is great for literacy, but has lots of history and geography teaching resources too!
The Ordnance Survey site contains education resources for teachers, which can also be used at home. Its MAPZONE is very engaging and children can access it independently.
Woodland Trust Nature Detectives: Some simple, nature-based activities you can enjoy together at home or in your garden.
BBC Bitesize has KS1 and KS2 Geography Resources. Please check out BBC teach for Ks1 and KS2 Geography also.
8. Religious Education
NATRE have published a number of HOme Learning resources for parents to use during this period of school closure: KS1 and KS2
BBC Bitesize for Religious Education in KS1 and KS2 is very extensive!
9. Art, Music, Design & Technology
Tate Gallery have a dedicated children's website with lots to explore from the safety of your own home.
To help with the rhythms and routines of your new daily life, Out of the Ark are releasing seven songs, one for each day, all with challenges and activities related to each song. Every week for the next few weeks we will continue to add songs and resources.
BBC Bitesize for Art in KS1 and KS2, and DT in KS1 and KS2.
Check out the RA's website for lots projects the whole family can try at home.
Chrome Music Lab is a website that makes learning music more accessible through fun, hands-on experiments.
Babble Dabble Do has a wide range of creative projects for children!
Redbridge Museum produce a weekly family craft activity and upload to their google drive page.
10. Mindfulness and Keeping Active
GoNoodle is wonderful! Hundreds of movement and mindfulness videos for you to enjoy.
PE with Joe: Join Joe Wicks every morning at 9am for a live workout, for children and adults alike!
Cosmic Kids Yoga has mindfulness, yoga and relaxation activities for children aged 3+
BBC Supermovers has interactive videos to get your children moving, supporting English and Maths learning.
The Family Fit Club have produced fun themed workout videos that children and their families can access completely free on Youtube

11. Wider Curriculum
BBC Newsround will keep the children up to date with the world around them during this period of school closure. Please visit daily!
Over the coming days and weeks Bitesize will be changing to bring children daily content that supports parents as schools close across the UK, to help you with your education and wellbeing.
Collins 4 Parents offers resources to parents on a range of primary school subjects, from history to French.
